RP Adam has been the major chemicals supplier to NHS Scotland for over 35 years and has recently had it products listed for NHS England too. By working closely with infection control departments, we understand the scale and unique demands placed on hotel services and kitchen operations within NHS hospitals. Keeping hospitals safe and clean is a key factor in ensuring effective infection prevention and improving patient wellbeing. It has also become a highly controversial issue.

The ‘controversy’ in hospital cleaning stems from changes in procurement processes. In particular, the impact of cleaning service outsourcing has been a constant source of tension. While trade unions and medical professionals have consistently argued against it, business leaders have always rejected any connection between outsourcing, infection rates, and declining standards.

RP Adam continues to let the politicians and health service professionals slug it out, but with the huge financial burden our wonderful NHS places on us as taxpayers, it is clear that we have to provide the best possible value and a service package that cannot be beaten.

For well over four decades, one of the constant core business streams for RP Adam has been with local authority education primarily within the catering services sector but also within schools cleaning and caretaker services. In fact, there are not many local authorities within the UK today who have not used our products at one time or another over the years.

In county catering operations, the sheer scale of rolling out training programmes across hundreds of schools and the associated field service commitments are often too onerous for our competitors to consider. We relish the challenge and successfully implement these programmes easily and effortlessly where others can supply only.

Our products are used in numerous university campuses throughout the UK and we are an NUSS supplier via our distributor partners. We work closely within tender guidelines to offer a cost effective cleaning solution for all education establishments, where the main focus is economy in-use and user safety. Our schools chemical training package and delivery programme is one of the best in the business, as our impressive client list demonstrates.

For the local authority and education markets, implementation of the Government’s austerity measures across public sector departments and local councils will mean that contract cleaning companies, especially SMEs, will struggle to achieve growth over the next few years and in-house cleaning operations will require even more support from their chemical supplier partners.

In response to this potential barrier to supply, we go about our business in a different way with schools – rather than supply huge quantities of cheap bleach and disinfectant, we prefer to provide a minimum amount of quality concentrated product which can be used for the maximum number of applications safely, supported by our field service and support offering….less can mean more.

We invest considerable resources in our training programmes to ensure that our key messages are understood and put into practice by our customers each and every day.....

Not only have we found the Arpal chemicals to be highly effective, the operational support such as onsite installation, training and advisory services are excellent too. Their reaction to requests is fast and they have been wonderfully supportive when conducting major mobilisations. I could not recommend them more.
